If you are not eligible for a SHIRP account, you may have access to healthcare resources through one of these other libraries:
SHA: all staff
University of Regina: Staff, students, and faculty
University of Saskatchewan: Staff, students, and faculty
Saskatchewan Polytechnic: Staff, students, and faculty
If you are not eligible through any of these organizations, there are further options for accessing high quality healthcare literature.
PubMed: This is a free online search engine, searching more than 30 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. It will allow you to conveniently search the literature and the citations may also include links to full-text content when available.
Open Access: There is a growing movement towards Open Access resources. More and more researchers and publishers are making their content freely available. There are also downloadable Browser Extensions available to help you find Open Access content. Use PubMed or Google Scholar to find the titles and abstracts of articles of interest. Download the browser extension Unpaywall or The OA Button to be notified when legal and free versions of these titles are available.
Walk-In Access: Members of the public are welcome to visit the USask campus. While using campus Wi-Fi, you will have access to the vast majority of USask Library's resources which you are welcome to read and download.
Public Library Inter-Library Loan Services: Across Saskatchewan, public libraries are able to borrow from academic libraries on your behalf. Ask your local public library about Inter-Library Loan services.
Please contact SHIRP'S Program Coordinator with any questions.
The University of Saskatchewan's main campus is situated on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis.
